Lunar Reflections of Sorrow

"Hello, Luna. How are you tonight?" The young boy gazed at the full moon
hanging in the satin sky waiting for an answer. "You still will not speak to
me? It does not matter. I can tell by your anguished face, My Lady, that you
are not well. But, why do you always look so pained? Are you lonely? Or has
your heart been broken? If so we are afflicted by the same ailments."

"Yet you, My Lady, still remain beautiful and elegant. Whereas I, the
little halfling mortal, remain grotesque and clumsy. Even the Angelic blood
in my veins cannot save me from this horrid appearance. In the eyes of all,
save for Yuto and perhaps Taishi, I am an evil child. Something ugly that was
put here to be despised and should die. But of course My Lady would never
have to go through that. You are perfect, timeless."

"I wish I could be there with you, My Lady. Floating through the
nighttime sky by your side. Watching all the people down below with all their
worries and love. Perhaps if we were together neither of us would be so
lonely anymore. But, as much as I try, I cannot get my wings to carry me that
far. So, My Lady, we both must remain alone, but I suffer another punishment.
Hatred. All who see me hate me, loathe me, fear me. Why? Because of my
father."

"Don't you think it's childish? To be blamed for what your sire did. I
thought so, I still do, but who would listen to my opinions? Who would care?
To them I am an insect. One that needs to be exterminated, but, like the
little ant, cannot be killed so easily. But you, My Lady, everyone loves you.
They desire your blessings, your guidance, your ghostly light. Yet they
notice not your look of anguish. Foolish people."

"Ha! Listen to me, a child, speaking as if I were as old and wise as
Aurian! Even grandpa would find that amusing. Of course, after the humor
passed over him, he would condemn me with a stare and storm off. I wonder,
how did it come about that I have this gift? This gift of language and
vocabulary. Most children my age can barely say a whole sentence correctly,
but here I am speaking with an adult's vocabulary and grammar. Maybe it is
something I inherited from my father. At least it was that and not something
else."

"It is late and I must be going. If I don't Yuto will come looking for
me. Good night, My Lady. I will see you again sometime." The young boy stood
and bowed. But, before he climbed down from his perch on the roof, he turned
his turquoise eyes back to the giant moon. "Please smile, My Lady. Perhaps
when you do we will both meet good fortunes." After his last comment was
spoken the boy climbed down from the roof and went inside his home. After the
boy went inside the sky overhead roared with thunder and opened up to reveal
the pouring rain. The little boy looked out his window and smiled sadly. "Do
not cry, My Lady. I am sure that, even if I do not, YOU will meet good
fortunes."
